Did you know that bees help pollinate approximately 80% of the world’s flowering crops? That makes up about one-third of the food we eat each year. These bees play a substantial role in our ecosystem, but the use of toxic pesticides on floral crops has had a dramatic impact on the survival of wild pollinators. If we allow this to continue, we will see more than just these bees and honey disappearing.
The world faces a dangerous threat to our future if the bee population continues to die off. Bees affect us at the very top of our food chain and that of most living mammals. It is the honeybee species that plays the single largest role in producing the fruits and vegetables we eat by cross-pollinating the food-bearing plants.
Renowned scientist, Albert Einstein once prophetically remarked, “Mankind will not survive the honeybees’ disappearance for more than five years.”
